Natalie Cassidy 'depressed and in tears' as she balloons AGAIN on yo-yo diet

Updated 15:01pm on 9 Jul 2008

A week ago she claimed she was 'bored' of being a slimline size eight.

But now it seems the pressure to be thin has started to affect former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy again.

After admitting she found it too hard to sustain the body that resulted in her fitness DVD becoming a bestseller, the 24-year-old is depressed over her weight gain.

Depressed: Out and about in North London Natalie Cassidy has noticeably regained her curves

A friend revealed to Closer magazine: 'Natalie says the weight loss was too good to be true. She had a dream body she couldn't maintain.

Beach body: After a six month fitness regime Natalie dropped to a size 8

'She spent last weekend in tears about putting on weight.

'All that hard work has gone. It took months to lose it and weeks to put it back on.

'She's realised we're not all built the same.

'She says 'My family's curvy, I'm naturally curvy - what's the point in fighting it.

'She feels embarrassed. She didn't want to be one of those celebs who made a DVD and then stopped practising what they preached.'

The 5ft 4inches star unveiled her new shape after she went from 12 stone to eight.

After a six-month slog, she shrank from a size 16 to a 8 with a gruelling exercise regime and a strict diet.

However, just three months after stripping off to a teeny bikini on the beach Natalie's natural curves have returned.

Putting on a brave front last week she said to Now magazine: 'What do I have to do - wear a bikini or spandex every day just to prove that I haven't put on weight? I'm a bit bored now.'

Natalie looks great as she is and she's one of those people who is not only beautiful on the outside, but also on the in. Which we were all privilege to witness on Big Brother. You concentrate on being you Natalie and the people around you that love you. Remember, were here for a short time and gone a long time.

Why are people so moronic when it comes to dieting? Unless you're very lucky, having a slim body is a lifestyle choice - if you want it you have to eat moderately and sensibly and exercise regularly. If you can't be bothered with all that then if you obviously don't care enough in the first place.

So if you can't hack it then accept the metabolism nature gave you and stop boring us all by moaning about your fat body. That might sound harsh, but it's about acceptance and making a simple choice.

I'm not surprised that she is depressed and in tears when the media headline everytime she puts on a few pounds. Give the girl a break!

She does look much happier now she is back to her 'curvy' self.

It's one in the eye for the size zero brigade (who don't seem to be taking over the high streets of the UK) and it's a triumph for 'curvy', 'cuddly' and 'bubbly' girls. (Who seem to be the ones taking over the high street, contrary to what the media tell us)

This is why extreme dieting does not work, even if the extreme is being very healthy. The moment you slip up or give yourself the day off your fat cells go wild making you more likely to put weight on easily. I know, I've been there. Not worth the stress, but I guess it takes time to see that!

She shouldn't feel bad at all, she actually looked way out of proportion as an 8. Her body is naturally suited to a slightly larger size prob 12-14 and looks normal that way. This is a very good example of showing people that not everyone automatically looks better thinner, contrary to media-popular belief. I have no doubt even slightly heavier that she is still perfectly healthy (ought to cut out the smokes though). It's when people are obese that problems kick in. It's sad that there is pretty much a generation out there that honestly thinks any larger than 6-8 is unthinkable. On the flip side, there is too big as well (seriously, Dawn French cannot be perfectly medically healthy, don't buy that for a second), and people seem to like to make excuses for that too - it's all to do with your natural proportions, people. There is a happy medium.

Natalie shouldn't feel ashamed. She was never fat, she is a normal curvy young woman. She worked hard and sometimes it takes extreme dieting to realise you're human and and a good looking, healthy body needs a bit of meat. She shouldn't be put under pressure just because she's famous. Enjoy life Natalie.

Hey natalie, don't be in tears over putting on a bit of weight - there are far more important things to cry over!
