'Yes, we're married': Ethan Hawke admits he tied the knot with children's former nanny

Updated 11:33am on 14 Jul 2008

Actor Ethan Hawke has married the former nanny of his children in a secret New York ceremony.

Spotted wearing wedding rings, the 37-year-old and his new wife Ryan Shawhughes had previously denied rumours about their marital status.

But after much speculation, Hawke's agent Mara Buxbaum confirmed the pair had indeed tied the knot last month.

And it's just in time as  the blushing bride looks like she's about to give birth any day now.

The 28-year-old is expecting her first child, reportedly a girl, with the Training Day actor.

He already has two children - Maya Ray, 9, and six-year-old Levon Roan - with his first wife Uma Thurman.

Keeping active: Ethan, Ryan and her baby bump enjoyed a walk in the sunshine

Spotted out and about in New York, the couple were keeping active despite Ryan's burgeoning baby bump.

While she and their dog enjoyed the summer sunshine and a brisk walk, Ethan soothed any pre-baby worries with a run in Greenwich Village.

Their relationship has been a controversial one as Hawke met his new wife when Pulp Fiction star Uma hired her to take care of their children.

Despite rumours, the actor has maintained since their split in 2003 that he did not get involved with nanny Ryan until after he was divorced in 2005.
