Most Hollywood stars wouldn't be seen dead without a full face of make-up and a stylish wardrobe.

But last night, Gwyneth Paltrow shunned the glamour for an au naturel look as she partied in The Hamptons, New York.

Her sweaty, relaxed appearance harked back to her down-to-earth look which she first sported while dating Brad Pitt.

When Gwyneth first started dating Brad in 1994, she was criticised by the media for her laid-back appearance.

Last night, as Gwyneth stepped out without husband Chris Martin or children Apple and Moses, she chose to forgo the glamour and make-up for a relaxed night out.

The Oscar winner's appearance looked dramatically different to the stylish looks she sported during her European tour to promote her latest movie Iron Man.

In April, the 35-year-old paraded through Europe in a series of ankle-breaking stiletto heels and  racy, minuscule designer outfits, which guaranteed front page promotion for the action movie.

But with no film to promote just now, it's evident Gwyneth isn't worried about making an effort as she partied at the Great Chefs Dinner to Benefit Hayground School at Nick & Tony's Restaurant in East Hampton on Sunday.

Dressed down in a black jumpsuit, baggy cardigan and flat sandals, Gwyneth was make-up free and scrapped her hair back into a messy ponytail.

Despite her seemingly flawless skin at the Iron Man premieres earlier this year, Gwyneth appeared spotty and redfaced as she swilled red wine at the Hamptons bash last night.

Paltrow has spent the last week in the New York area, where she was seen visiting close friend Madonna, following rumours of marriage problems with husband Guy Ritchie.

Meanwhile, Gwyneth's husband Chris Martin is on the opposite coast of America, preparing to open Coldplay's U.S. tour in Los Angeles this evening.
