New mother Nicole Kidman has disappointed magazine editors around the world after refusing to sell photos of her baby daughter Sunday Rose to the highest bidder.

The Oscar-winning actress, 41, gave birth to her first biological child in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 7.

Despite the record-breaking photo deals made for images of Jennifer Lopez and Angelina Jolie's respective twins in recent months, Kidman and her husband Keith Urban believe it is inappropriate to sell images of the newborn.

Before baby: Nicole Kidman, pictured seven months pregnant at an awards show in Las Vegas, is yet to decide whether or not to release a picture of Sunday Rose

Kidman and Urban are currently discussing whether or not to release one image of the baby for free or just keep her hidden away from the public altogether.

A friend of the couple told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper: 'They don't think it's appropriate to make deals.

'They are still deciding how they feel about it - if and when they will release a photo at all. But they realise there is enormous interest from the public and they are grateful and appreciative of that.'

Lopez and husband Marc Anthony signed a reported £3million deal in March with America's People magazine for images of their twins Max and Emme.

And following the birth to Jolie and Brad Pitt's twins Knox and Vivienne in France on Saturday, the first pictures of the babies had reportedly been sold for £6million to an unnamed US magazine.

The couple sold exclusive pictures of their first biological child Shiloh Nouvel to People magazine in 2006 for £2million, which they donated to charity.

Kidman's daughter's unusual name was inspired by artist's muse Sunday Reed and Rose was the name of Urban's late grandmother.

Kidman and ex-husband Tom Cruise are adoptive parents to Connor, 13, and Isabella, 15, from their ten-year marriage.

Both exes married their current spouses in 2006.

Kidman married Urban in a Catholic ceremony in Sydney in June 2006 after an 18-month courtship, while Cruise married Katie Holmes in a star-studded Scientology wedding in an Italian castle in November 2006 - seven months after the Batman Begins star gave birth to daughter Suri.

Kidman and Urban refused an exclusive wedding deal for their marriage and released one official photo to news agencies.

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl and also on not cashing in on it. You are to be applauded. Lets hope other "celebrities" take your lead.

Good for them. Celebrities can't keep banging on about privacy when they're then willing to sell pictures to the highest bidder.
