Is David Beckham's shirt-tucking trick more to do with his obsessiveness than his sense of style?

David Beckham's admitted in the past his Compulsive Obsessive Disorder affects the way he organises his fridge, but does his condition dictate the way he dresses?

Regarded as one of the best dressed men in the world, David Beckham is famed for sarong wearing, his and hers matching outfits and adventurous haircuts, but while his wife Victoria continues to opt for overdone attention-grabbing outfits the footballer seems to have adopted a more relaxed style staple of low-slung jeans and a simple shirt. But is there more to his laid-back look than meets the eye?

Stepping out for dinner with Mrs Beckham earlier in the week David continued with his current ensemble of choice. Jeans? Check. White vest? Check. Open-neck, messily tucked in shirt? Check.

However, on closer inspection it appears more attention is given to his outfit than you’d give him credit, you might even call it an obsession. His shirt may look like it’s been hastily tucked in but if we look back at previous pictures of the Armani pin-up a recurring theme becomes apparent: David always lets the right side of his shirt hang out over the jeans.

Artfully dishevelled: OCD sufferer David Beckham sports the untucked shirt look for dinner in LA earlier in this week (left) and appears to have gone for the same style whilst in New York last month (right)

So could the unique way he wears his shirts be down to his Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) rather than any style-conscious decision?

The former England football captain admitted he suffers from OCD back in 2006 - a complaint which drives sufferers to carry out bizarre and persistent rituals.

For David this includes counting clothes and placing magazines in straight lines as well as making sure coke cans are lined up in the fridge, and now it would seem the condition even affects the way he dresses.

He is not alone, other famous OCD sufferers, which affects two per cent of the population, include Paul Gascoigne, Woody Allen, Harrison Ford, Emily Lloyd, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder.

Trendsetter:  Could the untidy shirt style as featured again by David in June, May and November become a hit among fashion followers?
