Catherine Tate cut a brave face as she left the Duke Of York theatre after appearing in David Eldridge's Under The Sky play.

The actress who, missed the first night of the much-anticipated show after she took a tumble and suffered an ankle injury seemed eager to get back to work.

She twisted her ankle after the nasty fall during the cast's final dress rehearsal for the play.

The unfortunate incident occurred just hours before the first night opening on Tuesday, where Tate was set to make her performance.

Tate was forced to withdraw from the play which was ultimately cancelled for the night.

The dark comedy is being held at the Duke of York theatre in London.

Co-starring Francesca Annis, it was supposed to run throughout the summer and producers had feared that their star attraction would not be able to make a single appearance.

However, Tate was given the all-clear by doctors and returned to take her place on the stage.

And never one to let something like an ankle injury stop the show, Tate returned the following night  to give her all-even if she was hobbling on crutches.

The tenacious actress left the theatre with the metal support  with a bandaged hand and ankle.

The Doctor Who star last appeared in a play with David Schwimmer in the 2005 production of Neil LaBute's Some Girl(s).
