They've long been accused of desperately trying to outdo one another on set.

And now it seems that Desperate Housewives stars Eva Longoria Parker and Nicollette Sheridan are competing in the knobbly knee stakes as they unveiled a matching pair on a US TV show.

Dressed in matching tight fitted frocks, as the women sat cross-legged, they unwittingly revealed their bony knees.

The actresses were both panellists at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

And they were joined by their co-stars Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Teri Hatcher.

But least Eva's strikingly knobbly knees deflected attention from the other area that has been causing consternation of late - her stomach.

The Desperate Housewives star attracted some attention while shopping at a New York boutique wearing a loose-fitting sundress. Rumours flew after a sales person appeared to point to her belly.

But her stylist Robert Verdi refuted the rumours. He told People magazine: 'Eva is not pregnant.'

And he should know. She added: "I'm not her gynecologist...but I see her naked. I see her boobs! That's the first place it would show, and it's not showing!'
