Peaches Geldof turns rock chick as she tries out yet another career

Updated 14:26pm on 19 Jul 2008

First it was journalism, then TV presenting, modelling and DJing, and now at the grand age of 19, it appears Peaches Geldof is having yet another career change.

Following in the footsteps of her father Bob Geldof, the 19-year-old socialite took to the stage in her latest guise as rock chick at the Neighbourhood club in Ladbroke Grove, west London.

Dressed in Gothic lace, Peaches and her pals rocked out in front of a couple of hundred revellers, including her dad and younger sister Pixie, 17.

While Bob continued his recent smarter persona with cream trousers and a beige jacket, his youngest daughter Pixie stepped out in an Eminem t-shirt fashioned into a tiny dress.

The gig at the West Rocks club night marked the first time the group performed live since forming earlier this year.

Showing off her musical skills on a bass guitar, Peaches aped her father's stage presence from his days in the Boomtown Rats.

While dad Bob kept a relatively low presence, Pixie whooped in the front row when her sister dedicated a track to her.

Another song, Peaches told the crowd she had written about 'someone I don't like very much', but declined to divulge the subject of her disdain.

The unsigned group comprises of Peaches' long time friends, guitarist/singer Tawnee (who shares lead vocals with the socialite), drummer Tom, keyboardist Linda and lead guitarist Linda.

Peaches and pals decided to form the group after 'bonding over burgers' in Shoreditch, east London.

The group's name was inspired by a description of a wild party in Oscar Wilde's classic novel The Picture Of Dorian Grey.

Among the song titles co-written by Peaches and Tawnee include Applause It Echoes and Padlocks.

Before the group, Peaches has already enjoyed one foray into recording music - she teamed up with Lord Auch to duet on a track called Welcome To The S***house.

Since finishing her AS levels in 2006, Peaches has tried a variety of careers.

She has presented a series of programmes for Channel 4 and E4, including Beginner's Guide To Islam, Shockwaves NME Awards 2007 and Big Brother's Big Mouth.

She also tried her hand at journalism with columns in the The Telegraph, The Guardian and Elle Girl.

Peaches also has a DJ duet called the Trash Pussies with close friend Fifi Brown.

Please tell me we are not going to have to be bored senseless by the life and times of all the Geldof brood! Well an antidote to insomnia I guess.

Socialite, Dj, presenter, rock chick = all the whims of a spoilt little brat.
