Jade Goody's ex boyfriend could be jailed after being convicted of attacking a 16-year-old boy with a golf club.

Jack Tweed, 21, of Buckhurst Hill, Essex, and his friend James Mattock, 29, of Ongar, Essex, were today found guilty of assaulting Daniel Steele, now 18, in Ongar in December 2006.

A judge adjourned sentencing until September 1 following a trial at Chelmsford Crown Court. Tweed, who has appeared in Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother, and Mattock denied assault.

The court heard that Tweed was living with another Big Brother contestant, Jade Goody, 27, in Ongar at the time of the assault.

Prosecutor Carolyn Gardiner suggested that the two men were 'teaching' Daniel 'a lesson'.

'Two weeks before, Jade Goody had some trouble with youths in the area,' said Miss Gardiner.

'Some youths probably being noisier than they should have been.

'Maybe they (Tweed and Mattock) decided, it is time to teach these youths a lesson or two.'

Miss Gardiner told jurors Tweed had 'rocketed into a celebrity lifestyle'.

And she asked them to consider what effect that might have had on his personality, adding: 'Do you think he may see himself as someone who is perhaps invincible?'

She said Daniel, who had been with friends, was left with a bleeding nose after the attack.

Tweed and Mattock said they were not involved in any assault.

Jurors heard how Tweed told detectives that he had been 'putting up Christmas trees' and 'watching videos' before he and Mattock had gone to pick up a Chinese takeaway.

Tweed told police: 'They have picked me out because they know me from magazines and the TV.'
