Maggie Gyllenhaal looks stunning at the Batman premiere... as Kelly Osbourne gets it all wrong

Updated 15:21pm on 22 Jul 2008

Kelly Osbourne stole the show at last night's The Dark Knight premiere in London - but for all the wrong reasons.

Wearing a garish transparent black dress, the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne looked anything but demure as she walked the red carpet.

The faux-pas was all the more unfortunate given that the Batman sequel premiere attracted a who's who turnout of star-power in London's West End.

Maggie Gyllenhaal, who plays Rachel Dawes in the film, looked stunning in a backless black satin gown.

The Batmobile had earlier roared up the red carpet to mark the much-anticipated return of the Caped Crusader to the big screen.

The Dark Knight's stars Gyllenhaal, Christian Bale, Sir Michael Caine and Aaron Eckhart all greeted fans at the Leicester Square event.

Sir Michael Caine, reprising his role from Batman Begins as butler Alfred, said: 'It's wonderful. I've been to a lot of these and this is the biggest lot I've ever seen turn out for a movie.

'The box-office is great and the film has been so universally accepted and praised. I'm quite overwhelmed actually.

"I'm at this age and I'm in one of the biggest movies of the world.'

The follow-up to Batman Begins has been hailed by critics as the film of the year for its adult storytelling and, in particular, a mesmerising performance by tragic Heath Ledger as The Joker.

A huge amount of press attention has focused on the film following the Australian's tragic overdose death in January at the age of just 28.

Ledger is already tipped to secure an Oscar nomination at the 2009 Academy Awards for his standout performance.

Aaron Eckhart

Caine, 75, said: 'We've gone through the mourning phase and we're now in the tribute phase. When I saw him onscreen I was completely blown away.

'He was such a wonderful actor and he created one of the greatest villains you've ever seen.'

Meanwhile, The Dark Knight toppled Spider-Man as the king of Hollywood superheroes today, according to final box-office figures.

It took a US box-office record of $158.3million (£79.2million) in its opening weekend, beating the previous best of $151.1million (£75.6million) set by Spider-Man 3 in May last year.

She looks lovely, and it's most definitely not see-through, but has an undergarment in pale cream, get your facts right!

Eh? Kelly looks amazing, better than I've ever seen her looking!

I think Kelly looks lovely - you can hardly call her dress "garish" when you compare it to what Gary Lineker's girlfriend and the Ecclestone girls turned up in! Leave the poor girl alone!

Kelly Osboune looks stunning, I'd rather a voluptuous young lady then a stick insect.

Surely you've got your comments the wrong way round regarding Kelly Osbourne and Maggie Gyllenhaal - Kelly looks chic, stunning and slim in contrast to Maggie who is wearing a dress resembling a sack which clings to all the wrong places. Not a good look.

I think Kelly Osbourne scrubs up well and Gary's girlfriend really does look like she's wearing a towel!

Oh my gosh, I don't know is worse Kelly Osborne's fashion sense, or Bab in Paris' eye sight.

Kelly Osbourne looks totally stunning - contrary to those two so called "style icons" Daisy Lowe and Alexa Chung who look absolutely dreadful.

Firstly, the 2 "fans" dressed above are actually dressed as bat girl and Harly Quinn.
Secondly, it would appear that any old reality tv non entities were invited to this première, you'd have thought they'd have made a bit of an effort and got some proper celebrities out.

Gary Linnekers girlfriend looks as though she still has her bath towel wrapped around her. What a strange dress and not very flattering.
