Glummy Mummies: Sullen-faced Madonna and Gwyneth take their babies for a stroll

When your work schedule is hell and things are no easier at home you really need a friend.
Just ask Madonna. The 49-year-old singer, who is preparing for a world tour and battling claims that her marriage is in trouble, treated herself to a long stroll with Gwyneth Paltrow.
Judging by their grim expressions the pair appeared to have plenty of serious issues to discuss while in the upmarket resort of The Hamptons in New York state.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna enjoy a quiet stroll in a leafy New York State resort, along with four-year-old Apple Martin and adopted David Ritchie (visible in the back buggy)
Madonna is taking a break there as she prepares for her three-month world tour, which starts in August. A frantic exerciser, she is said to have injured her knee recently and has been told to rest.
Miss Paltrow, 35, appeared to be exactly the tonic she needed. She even managed to raise a smile from her friend during their walk.
Madonna looked weary as she pushed Miss Paltrow's four-year-old daughter, Apple, in a double buggy with her own adopted son David - who can just be seen in the back seat.
By contrast, Miss Paltrow was a picture of health, striding along in black leggings and gym vest.
American life: Madonna is taking a rest after a rumoured knee injury. She begins a three-month tour next month
Madonna's husband Guy Ritchie, 39, is believed to be in London as he prepares to release his latest film, RocknRolla.
Her spokesman has denied rumours that the couple had consulted divorce lawyers recently. However, her brother Christopher Ciccone, who has written a book about her life, has claimed the couple's marriage is suffering because of competition over their careers.

It may come as a surprise to G and M, but a four year old can walk a fair distance if given the chance and a 2 year old can certainly do some too. I know : I refused to use a pushchair after my daughter could walk and guess what by the age of 3, she could walk 2 hours without a single complaint. Ain't that funny coming from women who are obsessed about their looks and muscles? What future for their children : diet, diet, diet and gym, gym, gym instead of common sense ordinary exercise? Did you see 4 year old children in pushchairs 50 years or even 30/20 years ago?

The film is full of cracking one-liners. Plus lots of silly dialogue that, for some reason, makes one glad to be alive
