EastEnders veteran John Bardon is due to return Albert Square after recovering from a massive stroke.
The 68-year-old who plays Dot Cotton's husband Jim Branning, was written out of the plot last summer when he was hit with ill health.
Script writers created a storyline in which character Jim left Walford after also suffering a stroke.

It was feared that Branning may never act again after the debilitating attack.
However in a special episode to be screened on August 11 Jim will return to the square to celebrate his birthday with friends and family.
Despite having trouble speaking Bardon still managed to film the scenes at the Elstree Studios, Hertfordshire after an emotional reunion with cast and crew.
The storyline sees grandson Bradley (Charlie Clements) and his wife Stacey ( Lacey Turner) throw Jim a party.
The celebrations are only overshadowed by Dot (June Brown) worrying that she won’t be able to cope with the commotion.

i think jim is an assett to eastenders, i think his medical condition of a stroke should be explored more, including problems he and his family face, efects of his condition and his adjustment to life.
