Fern Britton's bottom-flashing white dress reveals her cheeky side

Updated 22:15pm on 28 Jul 2008

Fern Britton has endured quite a bit of unwelcome exposure since it was revealed that she opted for gastric band surgery.

And now the 50-year-old television presenter has again revealed rather more than she would have liked as her white mini dress exposed her cheeky side as she bent over to root through her handbag.

The This Morning presenter had stepped out with her daughter Grace, 11, for lunch near her home in Berkshire.

But it looks as if she failed to check the exact length of her hemline before heading into town for a meal.

Over-exposed: Fern Britton's short white dress left her rather exposed when she bent over to rummage through her bag outside a restaurant in Berkshire

Make-up free, and wearing a casual white dress and ethnic-style sandals, Fern's summer wardrobe let her down in a big way as she unwittingly revealed her rear end.

Luckily for Fern, her dramatic weight-loss in recent months meant that there was a lot less of her to see, so her blushes were spared. Somewhat.

The fallout from the gastric band controversy saw the popular presenter, known for her infectious giggling, have her pay frozen at £700,000, the same amount as in her contract for the previous year.

It was claimed the presenter had been pushing for a 10 per cent pay rise.

Fern with co-host Philip Schofield: Fern has had her pay frozen at £700,000 while Schofield has secured a rumoured £1.6million deal

ITV bosses are also said to have blocked her plans for a commercial sideline in plus-size clothing.

Miss Britton's bubbly personality and voluptuous figure have made her one of daytime TV's most popular presenters.

She recently attracted widespread admiration after dropping from a size 22 to a 16 and shedding five stone after a diet and exercise regime.

But in June this year it emerged that she had also had gastric banding surgery.

She missed four editions of This Morning with 'nervous exhaustion' amid the controversy.

Co-host Phillip Schofield is believed to have recently secured a £1.6million deal to stay on This Morning and other ITV shows until 2010.

No doubt many photographs were taken with only the very worst selected for major exposure! Money in - integrity out! Pay no attention, Fern, we all can be caught out with bad photos, we all tear lots of holiday snaps up keeping the gorgeous ones which were taken on the same day!
You are looking great and doing well, enjoy your breaks and your family, and stuff the snappers! Better still, get a ‘Stuff the snappers’ T-Shirted printed for your holidays!

Give the woman a break! All she's doing is trying to feel good about herself. Being so judgemental and down on other people says a lot about someone's own self esteem and frame of mind. Perhaps others should focus their energy on more positive thoughts or on bettering themselves in one way or another. Self improvement is never a bad thing!

Well, I wouldn't call that a dress, it looks more like a body-nappy.

I am such a sad person to even read this article. How old is she! to be dressed like this in public. Just get her off the tv and out of our faces.

There's absolutely NO reason why Philip should get more money than Fern. She is one half of that team and does a fantastic job on the show. Who cares what her size is and how she got there, she's an equal part of that TV programme...it's misogynistic inequality
