Brad and Angelina sell baby pictures for a record £7.5million

Updated 11:22am on 1 Aug 2008

They are already earning a Hollywood star's salary and they are just two weeks old.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have sold the first pictures of their newborn twins to a magazine for a reported £7.5 million.

Pictures of the Hollywood couple's new arrivals, Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline will be the most expensive baby pictures ever.

Brad and Angelina have sold pictures of their newborn twins for a record £7.5million

After a fierce contest between the celebrity magazines, Hello! outbid its rival OK! magazine for the rights to the pictures, and even brought its publication date forward to August 4 to capitalise on the coup.

The twins have remained hidden from public  view since they were born at Lenval hospital in the south of France on July 13.

Jolie, 33, whose late mother Marcheline was French has also bought a chateau in the country to retain her Gallic heritage.

Brangelina's first biological child, Shiloh Nouvel was born in Namibia in 2006.

Pictures of her were sold to Hello! for £2 million which the couple donated to charity.

They have also adopted three children: six-year-old Maddox, from Cambodia; Zahara, aged three, from Ethiopia; and four-year-old Pax from Vietnam.

A magazine insider said: "This is one of the publishing sensations of the decade - Brad and Angelina are the dream couple of the glossy magazine world and we expect to triple our circulation because of the public's fascination and interest in the couple and their children."

The American rights to the pictures will go to People magazine, which also published the first images of their daughter Shiloh in 2006.

Once the world's most expensive baby pictures, the stakes were raised last year when the first images of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's twins Max and Emme went for a bank-breaking £3 million.

The couple, who command at least £10 million per film, have already spoken of expanding their brood.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt allegedly first started an affair during the filming of Mr & Mrs Smith while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston.

While Jolie and Pitt never publicly commented on the nature of their relationship, speculations continued throughout 2005.

On January 11, 2006 Jolie confirmed to American magazine People that she was pregnant with Pitt's child and thereby confirmed their relationship for the first time in public.

Daisy, Anon - Yep, I see your point about the charity thing but still a ghastly couple who are very attention seeking and thoroughly deserve each other!

Janey C, £7.5m is not going to them they are donating it to charity just like what they did with Shiloh so surely you should be applauding them for this good deed instead of criticising them.
They are doing a good thing unlike others that have their celebrity pictures taken and keep the money. Whether you like them or not they are helping others and that is the thing that should be focused on

Janey, how do you know whether they'll be pocketing the money? according to the article they donated £2 million they received from other pictures. They may be donating all or some of the money this time too. If they want to keep the money good luck to them. The media are falling over themselves to throw millions of pounds at these people and others like them. Lets let off steam at the people who buy these magazines.

Still not getting the attraction of these 2!

Are they the first to have twins or something?

£7.5M (shocking)- like they need the money. Which seems to prove my point - they play up to the media in a very sneaky way.

Ghastly couple!
