It's my party and I'll scowl if I want to: Posh rolls up for A-list celebration

Updated 14:20pm on 1 Aug 2008

Victoria Beckham may have been the toast of Hollywood last night - but she still couldn't muster a smile.

The former Spice Girl cut a rather miserable figure as she arrived at the Beverly Thompson Hotel for a party thrown in her honour by Allure magazine.

Roll up, roll up: Posh arrived with husband David Beckham

Her trademark pout was firmly in place as she she rolled up with husband David in their shiny Rolls Royce.

Her best A-list friends Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale attended the lavish affair held in the hotel's Bond restaurant.

The 34-year-old continued her recruit for new celebrity friends by also inviting Hollywood's lesbian couple du jour Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson.

But Victoria's most powerful associates, Mr and Mrs Cruise, weren't able to attend the glitzy affair.

They are currently based in New York as Katie prepares for her upcoming appearance on Broadway.

Posh has focused on her ongoing drive to ingratiate herself to America's celebrity elite during her time in Los Angles.

And by all accounts, her efforts have paid off.

The couple are now well and truly settled into their adopted hometown, with David revealing they have no intention of leaving.

David wrote on his blog earlier this month: 'It seems like only a few weeks ago I arrived in Los Angeles with my family ready for the next chapter in our lives.

'We feel so settled here, everyone loves California and everyone has made us feel so welcome.

'I can't imagine being anywhere else in the world right now.'

Earlier in the evening, Victoria and David had dinner with his parents Ted and Sandra, and Posh's sister Louise at Maestro's restaurant.

A party thrown in her honour? What does that mean? I'd be embarrassed if a party was thrown 'in my honour' unless I'd made a significant and selfless contribution to the community. I would still go to it though if Eva Longoria was attending.
