Overcooked: Fashion designer Valentino looks like an Oompa-Loompa with his tangerine tan

Fashion designer Valentino looked more like an Oompa-Loompa than a style icon as he stepped out for a spot of shopping in Italy.

The 76-year-old may have been sporting some trendy sunglasses as he spent the day strolling around in the fashionable Portofino region, but no amount of accessorising could hide his hideous bright orange 'tan'.

The illustrious designer, full name Valentino Garavani, has created hundreds of flamboyant dresses for a range of celebrities including Jacqueline Onassis and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Valentino retired with much fanfare earlier this year and will be a tough act to follow in the fashion world.

However, when it came to his own style, even the veteran didn't look entirely happy with his new image and appeared distinctly uncomfortable throughout his outing.

What scares me, is the untold damage he's done to his skin. Never has such an blatant example of tanorexia been photographed for all to see!

A light tan can do wonders for a complexion, however this man flew past that baking line decades ago. It's as though he rubbed curry powder into his skin.
