Katie Holmes's denim obsession continued apace yesterday as she stepped out in yet another pair of jeans.

Tom Cruise's wife has been seen in a variety of blue denim trousers in recent days as she makes her ways to rehearsals for her upcoming Broadway debut.

While opting for rolled up cropped trousers in previous days, Katie went for the oversized look in New York on Saturday as she chose a high-waisted mega-long pair.

Dressed in a grey t-shirt, short-sleeved cardigan and jeans, Katie looked dramatically different from her usual high-fashion red carpet persona.

Her high-waisted jeans weren't the only fashion mistake made by Katie this week after she stepped out in a quirky pair on glasses on Friday.

The actress stepped out of rehearsals for her latest project donning a pair of oversized, thick black spectacles reminiscent of the Ronnie Corbett's days of presenting The Two Ronnies.

Never known for their sense of style it was a fashion faux-pas that even they eventually admitted was in need of an update.

And quite what her fashion-obsessed friend Victoria Beckham will make of the 'geek chic' look is anyone's guess.

The actress seems to be dressing for comfort these days, favouring baggy jeans and loose cardigans during outings with daughter Suri.

She has even admitted to wearing her husband Tom's jeans, although she has taken to rolling up the trousers to make them look like pedal-pushers because of the height difference between the pair.

Holmes stands at 5ft 9in, while Cruise is two inches shorter. The 29-year-old is rumoured to be expecting her second child with Cruise. She has recently returned to acting after taking a break to raise Suri, now two.

Now she is gearing up make her first appearance on Broadway in a production of All My Sons, due to open in October.

During a recent interview she gave a hint as to what has inspired her rather bookish new look: 'I can't deny that I'm a nerd,' she said. 'I'm not a smooth type of girl.

'I run into things, I trip, I spill food, I say stupid things - I really don't have it all together. But I'm working on it I really am.'

Her glasses are not the only time that Holmes has looked back through the decades for style influences. Her hairstyles have taken similar inspiration from bygone eras.  

In recent weeks she has tried out a 1980s bob and copied the famous Posh 'Pob' before adopting an altogether more boyish look earlier this week.
