Actress Lucy Davis cuts a sad figure as she steps out in Los Angeles without her wedding ring.

The star of cult BBC comedy The Office is said to be experiencing troubles in her marriage to Owain Yeoman, just 20 months after their lavish London wedding.

The pretty 35-year-old looked miserable as she stopped by a supermarket near the couple’s LA home yesterday.

Dressed in a low-cut stripy dress and flip-flops, it appeared Lucy - whose father is the comedian Jasper Carrott - has regained the weight she lost two years ago.

The couple married in St Paul’s Cathedral in December 2006, just a year after they met, and soon moved out to Hollywood together in the hope of launching their careers Stateside.

Sources said to be close to the star and her husband say they have been constantly arguing in recent months and Troy star Owain, 30, has been spending nights at his old flat.

A source said: ‘Lucy and Owain have been rowing mainly because his career has really started to take off so he has been away from home a lot filming.

'Right now she is a bit down and her weight has gone up. Everyone is hoping they can get things back on track,' a friend was quoted as telling the News of the World.

‘Owain’s family were out visiting recently and witnessed how much strain their marriage is under and how unhappy Lucy is. They said she was just not herself.’

Lucy – who has appeared in Ugly Betty and Californication since she moved to LA three years ago- has often spoken of her battle to stay slim and admitted that she was offered more work after slimming going from a 14 to a size 8.

'I wish I could be one of those people who is indifferent about their weight, but since I’ve lost weight I’ve had three roles—so that has to tell you something.'

Lucy, who played dumpy Dawn in Ricky Gervais’ hit comedy show, has previously spoken candidly about their love and recently admitted that she longed for a baby.

‘I do want children. I would hate to turn around in 30 years and say, 'Oops, I may be a film star but where are the kids?' she said recently.
