The moment Cheryl Cole is reduced to tears on the X Factor

Specially released preview clips reveal the X Factor is beginning to take its toll on newest judge Cheryl Cole.

In the tantalising preview for the talent show, which begins on Saturday, an immaculately made-up Cheryl struggles to hold back the tears.

The reason for the upset is being kept secret, but it could be due to the strain of travelling the country for the many X Factor auditions while also performing on the Girls Aloud tour.

Or maybe one of the acts she was championing on the show was turned down by her fellow judges.

However, it is hoped that the judge, who replaced Sharon Osbourne, hasn't fallen out with Dannii Minogue.

The Australian, 36, had a much publicised falling-out with Osbourne, 55. So far, it seems a catfight with Cheryl is off the agenda.

Dannii has vowed not only will she get on with 25-year-old Cheryl - she'll also feed up the petite star.

She says she feels sorry for Cheryl after marital problems with husband Ashley Cole, who was reported to have cheated on her.

She told The Sun newspaper: 'I wouldn't wish what Cheryl's been through on anybody. It must just be awful. It's physically obvious, it's been a tough time for her. I'll try to feed her up.

'I try and feed everyone up, so there's obviously an Italian mother stuck inside me.'

She continued: 'Cheryl's tiny. Mind you, Ashley came to auditions on her birthday and he's not tall. They're in proportion.'

This year's series of the hit ITV show looks set to see less confrontation after the departure of feisty judge Sharon.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Cheryl said Simon was the judge she agreed with most.

She said: 'As much as it pains me to admit it, and using Simon's own words: "He is always right".'

However she said she wasn't afraid to argue with the outspoken X Factor judge if she thought he was wrong.

New line-up: Cheryl says she respects Simon Cowell but isn't afraid to disagree with him if she thinks he's wrong

The Girls aloud star said: 'I have to say I do agree with him on a lot of things, but definitely not everything.

'I do tell him if I think he's out of order or wrong about someone. Sometimes he drives me mad and he always has to have the last word!'

The advert for this year's series also features the latest batch of auditioning hopefuls.

And it seems that some are as self-deluded as ever - leaving Simon to shatter their dreams.

I love the XFACTOR and I think that Cheryl is a really good judge and she is doing really really well! Well done Cheryl it can't be easy being a judge for the first time when you are teamed up with judges like Simon Cowell who have been doing it forever! KEEP IT UP!! XX

TV is dead, talent is dead, and it is all down to people and shows like these. Society has been dumbed down by this rubbish for far too long.

Cheryl and Dannii are as vacuous and untalented as each other ... no wonder they're likely to get on so well.

Viewing figure expectations must be right down. I won't be helping them.
