Mel B turns her back on Britain as she admits she prefers US soaps to Corrie and 'Enders

After living in Los Angeles for five years, Mel B has turned her back on British soap operas EastEnders and Coronation Street in favour of the US counterparts.

The former Spice Girl gushes about her love for daytime soap opera All My Children in a brief promo for American TV network ABC.

Dressed in a skin-tight, plunging black dress and heels, the 33-year-old Leeds native dances around and gesticulates as she describes the theme of the soap.

Mel B has revealed that she is a huge fan of US daytime soap, All My Children - by appearing in a TV Ad promoting the hit daytime show.

Throwing around words such as 'lover', 'cheater', 'unfaithful', 'brat' and 'playmate', Mel B admits her weakness for the cheesy soap.

To a backdrop of Nikka Costa's song Everybody's Got Their Something, Mel B admits - in her broad Leeds accent - that her 'something' is All My Children, affectionately known as AMC.

She said: 'Everybody's got their something... and my something is All My Children.'

All My Children has been going for more than 37 years and has featured such Hollywood stars as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mischa Barton and Kelly Ripa.

While Mel's appointment to advertise a soap may be a surprise to some, it could be seen as fitting given the dramatic events of her life over the past two years.

In December 2006, pregnant Mel was humiliated when her ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy publicly questioned the paternity of their daughter Angel Iris, who was born the following April.

On Dutch TV show TRL, he said: 'I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir.'

Following Angel's birth and a DNA test, Eddie publicly acknowledged he was the baby's father.

Just weeks after announcing they were no longer together, Eddie went public with his new girlfriend Tracey Edmonds, who said they had been dating for several months.

While Mel soon moved on to find happiness with her now-husband Stephen Belafonte, who she married in June 2007 after a whirlwind romance, Eddie's marriage to Tracey lasted just two weeks.

Mel's career is continuing to go from strength to strength since Angel's birth.

After appearing on US talent show Dancing With The Stars, Mel is now hosting reality show The Singing Office and recently launched a fashion line Catty Couture.

I don't see where she mentioned British soaps. She is doing her job and getting paid for it. If the British soaps approach her for an advertising deals, why not? Do your job girl and get paid, afterall Simon Cowell gets paid for criticizing people. Ask Simon what he thinks of both soaps and he will give you a piece of his mind, gets paid for it, and gets new deals out of it.
