The new husband of Peaches Geldof has admitted he doesn't know who her father Sir Bob actually is.

American musician Max Drummey said that while he had talked to Sir Bob on the phone, the Live Aid legend is not as well-known in the US as he is in Britain.

'I understand he's a real legend but I don't know much about him', Drummey said.

'I'm terrified of meeting him face-to-face but that's going to happen soon - it's all been arranged.'

Peaches and Max tied the knot in Las Vegas last week after a whirlwind romance. The newlyweds will certainly have lots to talk about when the family meets up.

Sir Bob, 56, who is currently on holiday in Majorca, reportedly only found out about the wedding 15 minutes before the ceremony last Tuesday.

Max, 23, told the Daily Mirror: 'He's always been friendly but as you'd expect he has what I call a healthy scepticism about me.

'I think any father would if their daughter got married the way we did.'

Earlier this week Peaches arrived in Majorca this morning to catch up with her father Sir Bob - but the newlywed wasn't wearing her wedding ring.

The teenager then showed off her new wedding ring to photographers, but the band was noticeably absent when she touched down at Majorca's Palma Airport today.

The I Don't Like Mondays singer looked crestfallen as he walked along a busy mountain road in the 37 degree heat yesterday.

Oblivious to the traffic, the legendary musician seemed to have other things on his mind - perhaps the shock announcement of Peaches' marriage.

Peaches' older sister Fifi was stunned by her sister's marriage to her boyfriend of one month.

Her sister, Fifi Trixibelle, made her feelings about the union plain by writing on her Facebook profile how she was 'wondering what the **** is my little sister up to?'

Fifi, 25, was on a California road trip with her sister when Peaches ran off and married Max Drummey, a 23-year-old Harvard graduate-turned-musician.

The sisters had flown to LA, reportedly so Peaches could get away from the attention she had received following an alleged drugs overdose.

Mail Online understands that Sir Bob, who is currently holidaying at the family home in Deia in on the Spanish isle of Majorca, has been a lot more measured in his reaction.

A source told Mail Online: 'Her dad was understandably shocked when she called from Vegas and told him she was getting married. He had all the questions about Max that any father would.

'But Peaches was defiant, reassured him he was a really nice lad who went to Harvard and was not into drugs. She basically said she was doing it anyway, and that she hoped she could have his support.

'Bob realised she was going to get hitched anyway. He said, "On this one, you're on your own. You've made your bed and now you lie in it."

'Bob told her that she's 19 now, that she lives away from home and is old enough to learn from the decisions she makes.

'He told her there would be massive flak from the newspapers - but she just said it would be good for her career. Peaches said she knew what she was doing, that marriage was a step towards stability. 

'She didn't miss out the chance to remind him that her and her mum had a rock and roll wedding in Vegas.

'The bottom line is that Bob said he would be there to pick up the pieces if it all went wrong. But all that has made Peaches even more determined to make the marriage work.'

Bob and Peaches are expected to fly back to the UK on Monday.

Max on the other hand is understood to have been at his parents' home in Boston before flying in to LA yesterday to practice with his band ahead of a gig in the city last night.

On Thursday, Peaches arrived back at her King’s Cross flat - without her husband - and emerged looking cheerful, telling journalists: 'I’m very happy.'

She was wearing an antique ring on her wedding finger - a different one to the plastic-looking band she had on when she arrived.

She first met Max two years ago but started going out with him in July, after meeting up when she hosted ITV2’s coverage of the iTunes festival.

The news of their marriage is said to have stunned Peaches’ ex, singer Faris Badwan, who apparently thought they were still an item.

Betting has already begun on how long Peaches will stay married.

A spokesman for Ladbrokes said: 'We’ve had punters looking to bet on it being all over very soon.'
