Just two days after their romantic sunset wedding, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi are off on honeymoon... just a few miles from their Beverly Hills home.

DeGeneres is currently filming the sixth season of her U.S. chat show so the newlyweds have been forced to delay a more exotic locale for their honeymoon in favour of spending quality time together in their hometown of Los Angeles.

The beaming couple arrived hand in hand to pick up a take out lunch from Real Food Daily in West Hollywood yesterday, accompanied by DeGeneres' mother Betty.

When asked by photographers how they felt following Saturday's nuptials, former Ally McBeal actress De Rossi shouted: 'Amazing,' while DeGeneres added: 'Married.'

The happy couple were quizzed over their honeymoon plans, but DeGeneres said the holiday would have to wait because 'I have to get back to work... this is it.'

DeGeneres, 50, and De Rossi, 35, tied the knot in front of 19 family members and close friends in the back garden of their £15million estate on Saturday evening.

Former comic and sitcom star DeGeneres wore a loose-fitting white chiffon shirt, white waistcoat and trousers while de Rossi wore a cream and pale pink halterneck dress by  designer Zac Posen.

The couple announced their engagement in May shortly after the California Supreme Court made same sex civil partnerships legal.

The pair began dating in December 2004 after splitting from their previous partners - Ellen had been in a relationship with photographer Alexandra Hedison, while De Rossi dated Francesca Gregorini, daughter of former Bond girl Barbara Bach.

DeGeneres was also in a high-profile relationship with actress Anne Heche, who she started dating soon after 'coming out' on the cover of Time magazine in 1997.

Australian-born De Rossi, who was born Amanda Lee Rogers, launched to fame playing ice queen Nell in Ally McBeal and also starred in the critically-acclaimed comedy Arrested Development, which was cancelled in 2006.

More recently, she has played alternative medicine specialist Olivia Lord in Nip/Tuck, who embarks on a lesbian affair with Joely Richardson's character Julia McNamara.
