Since cutting her hair, it seems Lindsay Lohan's girlfriend has lost her shy streak and abandoned her trilby hat for good.

After revealing her new brand new crop last month, Samantha Ronson has also recently dyed it brown for a more demure look.

The couple appeared the picture of happiness as they shared a tender moment at a an LA shop on Thursday.

The actress, 22, recently hit out at a police chief for branding her 'gay'.

Lohan and Ronson - sister of music producer Mark - were at Los Angeles airport catching a flight to Chicago when she told a paparazzi who was filming her:

'Police chiefs shouldn't get involved in everyone else's business when it comes to their personal life. It's inappropriate.'

Chief Bratton said a reduction in paparazzi activity was thanks to Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Lohan leading more moderate lifestyles.

He told television station KNBC-TV: 'If you notice, since Britney started wearing clothes and behaving, Paris is out of town not bothering anyone any more, thank God, and evidently, Lindsay Lohan has gone gay, we don't seem to have much of an issue.'

Sources say the pair have become increasingly comfortable with taking their romance public.

An insider told American magazine People: 'Sam is constantly on the set of Labor Pains. They're very affectionate.'

'Lindsay is so happy now because of Sam.'

Sam, the sister of music producer Mark Ronson, has also won the approval of Lindsay's mother Dina.

She says: 'I love Samantha.'

'She's like a child to me. They're great friends and as long as my daughter is happy and healthy, it is what it is.'
