Pregnant Billie Piper covers up her big bump with a little jumper dress

Updated 16:35pm on 27 Aug 2008

Billie Piper has never gone in for the extreme levels of grooming enjoyed by her fellow starlets.

And it appears pregnancy has done little to change her laid back look as she stepped out, covering up her bump, with a lightweight jumper dress.

The 25-year-old is clearly happy to leave her dressing up for the small screen.

Billie who is seven months pregnant with her first child with husband Laurence Fox, 29, stepped out in a baggy grey jumper dress as she flip flopped to the chemists with a mobile phone clasped firmly to her ear.

And her loose jumper dress proved to be a comfortable choice as she walked to the shops near her Midhurst, Sussex home yesterday.

Billie revealed how uncomfortable she was during filming of her new show

The couple tied the knot on New Years Eve and have been quick to start a family, having originally met on the stage of West End play Treats in late 2006.
They bought a £750,000 cottage in Midhurst soon afterwards.

Laurence, 29, who stars in ITV's Lewis, is a member of Fox acting dynasty which includes his dad James, uncle Edward and cousin Emilia.

The 25-year-old actress has kept herself busy throughout her pregnancy, filming the entire second series of raunchy ITV drama Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, despite the fact that she felt like a 'sweating sea cow' for most of it.

‘I found the heat very uncomfortable,’ she revealed. ‘I was thirsty all the time and always needing the toilet – which is really unhelpful when working to such a tight schedule!’

'I needed two body doubles in the end. As I got more and more pregnant I began to gain weight so it looked silly having a really skinny body double.'

The second series of the show, which is a big hit in the US, begins next month.
More surprisingly, Miss Piper looks set to name ex-hubby Chris Evans as her baby’s godparent.

The actress split from the Radio 2 DJ in 2004, following a whirlwind three year romance that carried them from a Las Vegas marriage to the four corners of the globe.

However, the divorce was the most amicable imaginable with Miss Piper making no claim on his estimated £30million fortune.

Mr Evans, 42, also hosted, and reportedly paid for her New Year wedding reception at his 15th century West Sussex pub, The Lickfold Inn and invited Miss Piper and Mr Fox to his own marriage to golfer Natasha Shishmanian, 27, last year in Portugal.

The foursome also regularly dine out together at the White Horse pub in Midhurst.
Piper has told close friends: ‘I want Chris to be part of the family. He would make a great godfather.’

To complete the circle, it looks as though Mr Evans may repay the honour, as the Drivetime presenter is preparing for his own new arrival with Miss Shishmanian.

A friend reveals: ‘Billie was one of the first people he confided in and she is delighted for him and Natasha.’
