Amy Winehouse is facing legal action after she pulled out of a concert in Paris just two hours before she was due to headline it.

The troubled star disappointed her fans when she failed to show up at the Rock En Seine festival in Paris after she was taken ill at her house in London last night and was unable to travel to France.

A statement posted on the festival website said organisers had decided to start legal proceedings against her because of the circumstances of her cancellation.

The statement said: 'We were told by Winehouse's agent at 8pm that she would not be there, and we were forced to cancel the performance.

'We have still not been given any explanation of the exact reasons for her absence.'

The Rehab singer, who was admitted to a London clinic last month after collapsing at home, was said to be too unwell to travel to the show in Paris.

Organisers said the singer's musicians had arrived on Thursday and rehearsed the show yesterday morning.

The statement continued: 'We are very sorry about this situation and share the disappointment of the festival-goers.'

Winehouse's spokesman declined to comment on the threat of legal action.

He said: 'Amy Winehouse is currently at home recovering. The illness is nothing serious, nothing that some time in bed and not singing won't cure.'

A spokesman for the singer said she did not require hospital treatment, and the London Ambulance Service confirmed they did not attend Winehouse's address.

Winehouse, 24, was due to headline the show on Friday, a three-day festival which has seen performances by the Raconteurs, The Streets and Kate Nash.

Winehouse's next scheduled gig is at Bestival on the Isle of Wight next weekend. Her dad Mitch has said that after that show she will take time off to focus on her health.

Her spokesman said he had no indication she would be too unwell to perform at Bestival.

Last month Winehouse spent a night in hospital after apparently suffering a reaction to medication.

In June it emerged that she has developed the chronic lung disease emphysema after she collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

Health problems did not stop her performing later that week at Nelson Mandela's birthday concert in Hyde Park and later at Glastonbury, V Festival and T in the Park, but she was criticised for her patchy performances.

Amy's last stint in rehab battling her high-profile drug addiction was in January, after footage emerged of her apparently smoking crack cocaine.

Winehouse was yesterday also given the dubious honour of being named celebrity with the worst skin, in a poll by Superdrug.
