They say with age comes wisdom. But that appears not to be the case with Mission Impossible actress Emmanuelle Beart as she stepped onto the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival with a trout pout.

The beautiful 45-year-old, who has also starred alongside Johnny Depp in Don Juan, joined the likes of Charlize Theron for one of the most important dates in the film calendar.

But she looked markedly different from her usual dainty self.

While the actress has always been blessed with full pouting lips, it seemed as though the area around her mouth was more prominent than usual.

Beart is the latest high-profile woman to succomb to the trout pout, joining the likes of Leslie Ash, Saffron Burrows, Britt Ekland, Melanie Griffiths and Meg Ryan.

Actress Leslie Ash, 47, became a laughing stock when she suffered an allergic reaction to collagen lip implants and was left with her now infamous pout trout.

The men Behaving Badly star has since admitted that had the cosmetic procedure done because her top lip had become thinner in middle age and she felt under pressure to 'maintain a certain image'.

Ash has since had corrective surgery but the damage appears to be permanent.

She said in an interview in 2003: 'I've been to doctors who've tried to correct it, and some days it's fine.

'But if I get any water retention instead of it just coming on my stomach, I get it on my lips. It's a nightmare.'

In addition to her acting, Beart is also known for her social activism and as an ambassador for Unicef.

In 2003 Beart, then aged 40, appeared nude on the cover of French magazine Elle which became the biggest-selling issue.
