When he hasn't been rowing chef Rex has spent his time in the Big Brother house cooking meals for his fellow housemates.

Now he plans to expose his talent to a wider audience - with a TV cookery show.

But although Rex has the blonde hair of Jamie Oliver he would have to work hard to replicate his warm personality. Rex's time in the house has been marred by his constant arguments with other housemates, and he had to be warned about his behaviour towards Sara by Big Brother.

Could Rex, left, be the next Jamie Oliver?

In a heart-to-heart with Kathreya Rex discussed having his own programme.

And after initially insisting he didn't come on Big Brother in order to land himself a cooking show he then admitted he would like to launch one.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the chef told the Thai masseuse he takes his profession seriously.

He told her he was worried that their play cookery shows in the kitchen would give people the impression he wasn't serious about his craft.

'When I'm doing it, it's pure passion, pure understanding, knowledge of food,' he told her. 'I'm doing this as a serious profession. When I'm in the kitchen I'll play along with you, but that's not the way I want to come across.

He added: 'I'm not a three-year-old.'

Kathreya observed that he lacked the 'unique selling point' other TV chefs seem to have.

In reply he branded them 'gimmicks' and declared: 'That's not what I came on the show for. I didn't come on for a cooking show.'

Rex then admitted he would like to launch his own programme, before quickly announcing: 'I came for the experience. I didn't come here to get anything from it. So many people came in here with clouded minds.'

He went on: 'When I do things in the kitchen I'm serious because that's my profession. You don't need a gimmick to sell something. If the product's good enough, people will buy it.'

It was reported earlier this week that TV bosses were planning a reality show for Rex and his girlfriend, former housemate Nicole.
