Denise Van Outen was the yellow belle of the ball as she attended the Hairspray High School Musical premiere with boyfriend Lee Mead.

The TV presenter looked stunning in a canary yellow dress as she arrived hand-in-hand with her man, who was casually dressed in jeans and a black shirt, at the event at the Lyric Theatre in London.

The 34-year-old is hosting the eight-part Sky One series, in which school kids from the London borough of Enfield audition for parts in the show, which they will perform in a West End theatre.

Yellow fever: Denise stands out in a bright satin dress as she attends the premiere of her new show Hairspray High School Musical in London

She admits thats she found working with young drama students tough at first but took the advice of her mother who told her 'to talk to them on their level.'

'At the auditions I chatted to them like a mate: 'You've got to respect people when they're doing their thing - don't laugh and take the mickey'.

"And in minutes, you wouldn't believe it - these 17-year-old boys, who the teachers told me were a handful, were sitting there listening intently to a 13-year-old girl singing,' she told the Daily Record.

Van Outen revealed last week that she quit her Radio Breakfast show with Johnny Vaughan on Capital FM to save her relationship with Mead, 27, who she met on the set of Any Dream Will Do in 2007 where she was a judge and he was a contestant.

Happy couple: Denise revealed last week that she left her job at Capital FM to save her relationship with boyfriend Lee Mead

‘I left because I was getting stressed. I wasn't sleeping properly and it was affecting my personal life.

‘My relationship with Lee wasn't under strain, but it wasn't being allowed to grow.

‘We'd courted and we wanted to move on. But you can't do that if you've never got time to see each other,’ she said in an exclusive interview with the Mail.

Van Outen was reunited with her former Big Breakfast host in February in a bid to boost 42-year-old Vaughan’s flagging ratings.

But their on-screen chemistry did not translate to the airwaves and failed to win new radio listeners.

Model Lisa Snowdon was revealed as her replacement last week.

Van Outen recently revealed why having a relationship with a man aged in his twenties was right for her.

She said: 'Personally ... a man in his twenties works for me.

'In my experience, single men in their mid to late thirties tend to be single for a reason. The good ones get snapped up.'

Before she started dating Mead last November, she was engaged to Jamiroquai frontman Jason Kay until 2001 and also dated Andy Miller, guitarist with Nineties indie band Dodgy

Mead is currently starring in Joseph And His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the West End.
