KT Tunstall weds her drummer boy on the Isle of Skye

Updated 19:32pm on 9 Sep 2008

It resembled a music festival rather than a wedding, with folk-singing guests and outdoor chemical toilets.

But yesterday Scots singer KT Tunstall married her fiance, drummer Luke Bullen, on the Isle of Skye.

The 33-year-old from Fife exchanged her vows in a marquee overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

She wore a full-length white silk strapless gown and the groom wore a powder-blue morning suit as 150 friends and family descended on four-star Flodigarry Country House Hotel set amid the island's stunning natural scenery.

Guests in bowler hats, puffball skirts, retro suits and sneakers, many with guitars and string instruments slung over their shoulders, mixed with elderly relatives in more traditional wedding attire.

They were met at the gates by security guards and a kilted clown playing a tambourine.

Earlier, details of the wedding had been posted at the island's register office - the bride was listed under her real name 'Kate Victoria Tunstall'.

The singer's adoptive parents Rosemary and David Tunstall, a physics lecturer at St Andrews University, and their two sons, Joe and Daniel, were at the ceremony along with Mr Bullen's family from Norwich.

Happy couple: KT and Luke

Newlyweds and guests enjoyed a meal of local beef and seafood before the couple were toasted with vintage champagne.

Later, guests performed a set of live music, with Eighties hits as well as traditional country dancing and Scottish folk music.

The couple had booked out Flodigarry and neighbouring Duntulm Castle hotels for five days of celebrations, with the first guests - some travelling from as far as Los Angeles - arriving on Thursday.

Miss Tunstall chose Skye for her big day after falling in love with the island while on holiday there.

For their honeymoon, the couple plan a backpacking trip around the world, heading off to South America, India and New Zealand.
