Short Beck and sides: Posh steals the show at New York Fashion Week with a Halle Berry inspired crop

There's nothing like a new haircut to make a girl feel a million dollars. Managing to upstage Jennifer Lopez has its benefits as well.
Which is perhaps why Victoria Beckham was looking more than a little pleased with herself at New York Fashion Week.
And just when she thought her day couldn't get any better, the former Posh Spice's very own designer fashion collection received flattering reviews.
But it was her chic new hairdo that was the biggest headturner.

Farewell, Pob: The star has shed her longer tresses
The gamine feathered cut was the talk of the town before anyone had even seen her clothes.
Some thought she'd been inspired by Audrey Hepburn while others pointed to Halle Berry's phase at the top of the crops.
Mrs Beckham, 34, arrived at the Marc Jacobs show arm in arm with her latest Hollywood best friend Miss Lopez.
Inspiration: Hollywood stars Halle Berry, Liz Taylor and Audrey Hepburn have all sported cropped brunette locks
In contrasting clingy dresses with long back zips, they posed for the cameras before taking seats in the front row.
Mrs Beckham was glowing after showcasing her debut collection to a handful of fashion editors at the Waldorf hotel.
'I know I have a lot to learn, but over the years I think I have worked out how women want to look,' the mother of three said.
'I've been working on this for 34 years. I always wanted to be a fashion designer.

Talk of the town: Victoria managed to upstage even Jennifer Lopez
'Then along came the Spice Girls which opened a lot of doors for me. And, let's be honest, closed a lot.'
She revealed even husband David had not seen all the finished pieces, although he regularly texted throughout the showcase for progress reports.
The novice fashion designer described her collection of ten dresses as 'classy'.
Each fashionable frock is typically Posh - super figure-hugging, though all feature a modest below-the-knee hemline.
She called the debut of her own range of dresses a 'dream of a lifetime'.

Hands on: The duo revelled in the spotlight

Back to business: Victoria's new collection has been hailed a success by New York's fashion critics
'Then along came the Spice Girls which opened a lot of doors for me. And, let¹s be honest, closed a lot.
'But those days are over. I was never going to be the world’s best singer, but I hope I can be a good designer.'
She added: 'I think sometimes David thinks I’m a bit nuts. I get very excited about rivets and buttons and fabric that he doesn’t really understand.'

Hands on: Not even giggling J.Lo could encourage a smile out of Posh
Fashionista: Victoria also unveiled her new collection of dresses yesterday
'But he supports me and I think that’s important in a relationship.'
Available in sizes six to 14, she described the dresses as 'suitable for all ages' and singled out curvy celebrities Nigella Lawson and Dame Helen Mirren as ideal customers.
Launching in February, each piece is produced in limited editions - there will be no more than 400 of the first collection - and will cost between £650 and £1,900.

She looks so much better with little make-up on. I wish she would smile. She has a lovely smile. I thought she was very funny on her special here in the USA. She is actually quite funny. Love the short hair. Smile!

Poor Posh looks pathetic.
She looked much better with some meat on her bones.
So sad...what is her problem???

I think she looks SOOOO much better and younger.

The hair style looks like it should be on someone in their 40's! Also, I'm sure her nose has had some 'improvements' made since the pic from January 2000. What do you think? I think she definately needs to put some weight on - she looks so much better with a little bit of meat on her bones!!!!!
- Leonie Howes, essex
The backdated photographs prove she's had both nose and teeth jobs. As for the cut, in my opinion, it just makes her look more boney and skeletal than ever...

Whats with the odd pose? Is she planning on becoming a contortionist?

Hair looks great and it suits her features. However, she needs to put on some more weight - fast!!!!

'Thin' of 'thick and thin' (Posh and Becks) fame is looking even more anorexic, awful. In that shot of her and Jennifer Lopez sitting down she looks freakish.

It's daring, and it doesn't suit everybody, but surprisingly it suits her.

My god! What is that woman doing to herself....gosh if she didn't have makeup experts at hand she would look like death warmed up....what a dreadful example for the youth of today.

Like the new haircut, but had to laugh at the following:
"Available in sizes six to 14, she described the dresses as 'suitable for all ages' and singled out curvy celebrities Nigella Lawson and Dame Helen Mirren as ideal customers."
No offence to Nigella and Dame Helen, but me thinks a few more larger sizes wouldn't have gone amiss!
- Flo, London
Cool. All she gotta do now is add a few pounds and she'll look relatively normal.
- James, London
Suits her!
- Julie, London
She looks great, best hair so far.

I would be surprised if Skeletor really is "the talk of New York Fashion Week" even allowing for how shallow the conversation is likely to be there. Her pouty posing is absurd in the extreme and any allusion to the divine Audrey only flatters her way beyond reality. Audrey Hepburn was an actress, model and muse whose humanitarian work eventually outshone even her glittering film career; whereas Victoria Beckham is just a very big head on a spindley body like Mr Potato Head.

Go and eat some pies - stick thin and now with a hair cut that just accentuates it even more. Stop off at a bakery luv!

This cut suits her better than any other I've seen her with. Keep it short Victoria, it looks lovely.
- Suzy, London
She looks great...more natural and attractive than I have seen her look for a long time.
- Nicky, london
Whilst her hair looks ab fab, her head looks way too big for her stick like body.
And can she never just look at the camera without that coy look she adopts?

"Celebrities" only cut their hair short when years of abuse with extensions, coiffering, etc take their toll. Posh is just as fake as her extensions.

With a single dessert and just two glasses of wine our bill was kept in check - but the effort of doing so was not much fun
