Patsy Kensit has revealed the emotional moment when boyfriend Jeremy Healy proposed to her in a hotel swimming pool.

The 40-year-old Holby City star says she broke down in tears when the DJ spontaneously popped the question, but couldn't help worrying that her hair was a mess.

Now the couple, who have been friends since the 1980s, are planning their wedding for May next year.

Jeremy, 46, told OK! magazine he hadn't planned the proposal on holiday in Majorca.

He said: 'It was all very spur of the moment. I guess I had been thinking about it but I didn't expect to say it. It just came out.

'We jumped into the swimming pool and I asked her. It was such a good moment. It was a real eureka moment.'

Patsy said: 'I just went: 'Oh God, I look awful!' With all my hair all straggly over my face. And he said: 'You always look beautiful to me.' '

She continued: 'We were both crying. Then I phoned my best friend Angels and she said: 'Not again!' But of course she was thrilled as she'd known him for years and thinks he is wonderful.'

It will be the fourth marriage for Patsy who has formerly been married to Dan Donovon from Big Auto Dynamite, Jim Kerr from Simple Minds and Liam Gallagher from Oasis.

She also has two children - James, 16, and Lennon, eight, while Jeremy has a 17-year-old daughter Marley.

Jeremy followed up his spur-of-the-moment proposal with another one on Valentine's Day in which he hid an engagement ring in a chocolate box.

Patsy said: 'I opened the box and right in the middle was my engagement ring! Then he got down on one knee and proposed to me again and it was the most romantic thing that's ever happened to me.'

The couple have known each other since the 1980s when Patsy was in the band Eighth Wonder and Jeremy was in Hayzee Fantayzee.
