Atomic Kitten Natasha's club shut down by police after stabbings are linked to organised crime

Updated 21:07pm on 12 Sep 2008

The nightclub owned by ex-Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton has been closed down after it was targeted by organised crime mobs.

Licensing officials ordered the closure after two men were knifed in the H Bar in Liverpool which is frequented by England footballer Steven Gerrard.

Both men admitted themselves to hospital but refused to help police investigating the stabbings and bouncers denied there had been an incident.

Natasha, 26, told the Daily Express: 'We pride ourselves on the safety and security of the people who fill it every weekend and our staff were extremely upset to hear about Monday’s incident although the injured parties did not even stay until the ambulance arrived.

'This was a relatively minor incident by comparison to some of the terrible knife crime we read about every day but despite that we had already taken steps to increase security ahead of this weekend.'

She said they would appeal against the closure and added: 'It is completely unnecessary to shut us down. I am disgusted there were stabbings in my bar and will co-operate fully to ensure it will not happen again.'

PC Stuart Moore of Merseyside Police told the meeting that two warring gangs were regulars at the bar.

He said: 'The owners have been warned about the calibre of the people using the premises.

'There are people using the bar who we recognise as being involved in local organised crime.'

The bar was opened by Ms Hamilton and husband Riad Erraji in February.

Regular drinkers include boxer Ricky Hatton, Katie Price and Peter Andre.
