To dye for: Ben Stiller shows his dark roots at Tropic Thunder premiere

Updated 20:51pm on 16 Sep 2008

The cast list reads like a who's who of Hollywood comedy - with Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black and Steve Coogan all vying for airtime in Tropic Thunder.

And tonight they were out in force for the film's UK premiere in Leicester Square.

But as Ben Stiller, 42, lined up with his co-stars he looked suspiciously dark haired.

The actor's dark hairdo was in contrast to his hair two years ago, when he appeared to be naturally fading to a distinguished grey.

Stiller's co-star Jack Black seemed less concerned with his appearance, wearing an unusual suit, decorated with white streaks of lightning.

'I put it through the dry cleaners and it looks like bird crap,' he told interviewers.

The plot of Tropic Thunder hangs around a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie and is currently America's number one film at the box office.

Black said the movie was very funny: 'I knew that we were taking some risks but now I think it is just a really funny movie and we offended everyone so no-one should be offended.'

Tom Cruise, 46, has a cameo appearance in the film as hard-nosed producer Les Grossman. He took the role as a favour to his friend Stiller.

In the movie, Grossman is financing a star-packed war picture that's being shot in Asia - and to say the unpleasant money-man throws his weight around is an understatement.

Tom Cruise

But Cruise was absent from tonight's red carpet premiere. In his place were a host of young beauties.

Newly engaged Danielle Lloyd left her fiancé DJ Ironic at home as she stepped out in a blue sailor style coat and little else.

While Bianca Gascoigne, stepdaughter of former footballer Paul, put her family troubles behind her for the evening as she showed off her figure in a purple bodycon dress.

Helen (London) - I agree,..they're like parasites which you can't get away from. At least Lady Victoria made an effort to read the invite and dressed appropriately...I'm sure it stated on the invite that it was a red carpet opening and to dress accordingly - NOT to turn up looking (Danielle Lloyd) like you'd just finished your shift at Asda's!..

Some of the best Hollywood actors of the moment and all we can come up with is a bunch of orange Z listers to welcome them. At least Lady Victoria has some style.
