She was dancing with a group of friends, wearing a black trilby with a feather in it, when a tall lad said something to her in German. Eugenie replied: "I don't understand that. I'm German but I don't speak German." The man seemed surprised, so Eugenie explained: "The royal family is German." Meanwhile Princess Beatrice seemed content spending the night chatting to different guys.
