Crunch forces Paris to take £50k pay cut

Updated 12:59pm on 27 Oct 2008

The last time Paris Hilton graced London with her presence, she received an estimated £70,000 in “appearance fees”.

So one would imagine that she's been coining it in during her recent over-extended stay in the capital.

But The Eye can reveal that the credit crunch has definitely hit the hotel heiress.

Paris Hilton hit by the credit crunch

Despite the fact that she's been pictured posing and pouting outside almost every fashionable club in London, we can reveal that she's only managed to rack up around £25,000 — which is close to £50,000 less than her last visit.

A source close to the 27-year-old socialite said: “Paris demanded £50,000 from Paper nightclub.

"They were prepared to pay — but on the condition that she turn up twice, not go anywhere else before or after that evening, and stay for a minimum of two hours.

“But she didn't want to adhere to all the conditions so the club cancelled her appearance.”

Our spy added: “Whisky Mist also refused to pay.

But she went there anyway because there was a chance that she would bump into royalty — and she did in the end.

“The only club that paid her was Movida, and that was an estimated £25,000. Although it's a lot of money, to Paris's people it's nowhere near as much as she used to be able to command.”

Paris is over in the UK filming her new TV show, Paris Hilton's My New BFF (Best Friend Forever), which sees her trawling Britain in search of a new pal.

However, we reckon not many potential chums have had the chance to get near her — as she's spent most of her time holed up in her hotel room, or deep inside various nightclubs' VIP areas surrounded by bodyguards.

The American star caused quite a stir in Movida after turning up and making a bee-line for glamour model Katie “Jordan” Price.

The pair were spotted dancing away in the VIP room where Paris quenched her thirst with bottles of Fiji water.

If Paris is miffed about nightclubs not paying her appearance fees, we here at The Eye think we might have come up with a solution.

We've had a whip around in the office and come up with £24.99 — which should get Paris a one-way ticket on a cheap airline to... Paris.

Who says it's the credit crunch to blame? Maybe the clubs have realised that she isn't worth the money!

Errr - I don't understand why clubs would pay her to turn up - is it to keep everyone else away?? I am sure that people don't think "ooooh - that's the club that Paris Hilton goes to, lets go there!"

How big and annoying an idiot can this girl be? Has she no shame?...er,...sorry...how clumsy of me?....I've just remembered how she came to prominence in the first place (great role model material and no doubt her "Mommy" and "Daddee" are geuinely proud!),...so NO this moron has no shame....but does anyone find her poses in pictures as irritating as I do?..She just CANNOT stand in a picture and have it taken being natural like other people do...oh no,....this **IT girl has to pull focus so that all the attention is on her and as usual the morons that be that are the execs at ITV (1,..2,...3...who cares whatever!) dreamt up the scintillating idea of paying her a huge fee to come and inflict her CRAP tv-ness on us,...if it's true what they say and that she's moving to London permanently,....I swear....I'm off and emigrating!
