Guy ‘rejects Madonna’s £20m deal for divorce’

Updated 11:45am on 28 Oct 2008

Guy Ritchie has turned down an offer of £20m from Madonna and the pair are “no closer” to reaching any agreement over their impending divorce, it was claimed today.

The pair, whose split was made public two weeks ago, are feuding over where their children — Rocco, seven, and adopted David Banda, three — will live and be educated.

Madonna, 50, wants the two boys to live with her and Lourdes, her 12-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, in New York.

But Ritchie, 40, would prefer that the children go to school in London.

The singer's biographer, J Randy Taraborrelli, told Hello! magazine, that the pair were “are at loggerheads”.

He said: “There was a great deal of haggling about this matter last week, with Madonna upping the amount of Guy's settlement to more than £20 m in hopes that he would acquiesce.”

He said they are “not even speaking to each other. They communicate only through lawyers”.

Mr Taraborrelli also said a friend of Ritchie told him that the split could become more acrimonious.

The source told him: “He and Madonna are very angry now, no doubt about it, [but] they are willing to put that aside for their children.”

The full interview appears in this week's Hello! magazine, on sale today.

Janey C - "Not a word would be said if it was some silly blonde/brunette/auburn bimbo taking an older man for his worth would it????"

Heather Mills, for one, would possibly beg to differ with that statement!!

This is just another example of Madonna being a bully, trying to get her way. She thinks she can simply pay Guy enough money to abandon his son and let her take him away to NY. I hope Guy sticks this out and makes sure that his son stays in the UK. This doesn't seem to be about the money to him.

Kee, Londoner-now in Qatar -

Yesterday you were accusing people of being sexism if I am not mistaken????? (regarding the old bird writhing around the floor etc?)

Its an equal world we live in, here in the UK and that doesn't just apply to women's rights you know!

Not a word would be said if it was some silly blonde/brunette/auburn bimbo taking an older man for his worth would it???? Is that the equally women were looking for.

And I actually think Guy is playing a clever game of forcing her to keeping the children in the UK for their education, I don't think it is about money at all.

He has his own, he is a self made man.

Nothing to do with written piece but doesn't the 'delightful' Madonna have more than a passing resemblance to Bette Davis????????????

Tee Hee!!!

PS And just out of interest - WHY would a handsome, fit, wealthy young man (aka baseball player) be interested in someone who probably resembles his mother??????? Spooky if you ask me.

And her ego is such that she is flattered. God love her!!
