Syd is keeping Russell's pecker up

Updated 12:42pm on 3 Nov 2008

Russell Brand hasn't had much to be cheerful about in the last few weeks. But there has been one glimmer of light in an otherwise dark period for the comedian - a beautiful new 22-year-old girlfriend.

We can reveal Russ, 33, has turned to model and dancer Sydney Jo Jackson as he picks up the pieces of his career following the Andrew Sachs phone scandal. He and Jonathan Ross are still feeling the heat after being blasted over a series of lewd messages left on Sach's answering machine.

New romantics: Russell Brand with his equally woolly-haired girlfriend Sydney Jo Jackson

Pals of Sydney say she is "desperate for fame" and has previously dated grime MC Lethal Bizzle. A friend told us: "She just wants to be famous, and while she genuinely likes Russell, none of her friends are surprised she's gone for him. They have been dating for about five weeks. They met through a mutual friend, and Syd also went to a casting of a Channel 4 show that Russell is involved in."

If Sydney is looking to get into the spotlight, it seems to be working. She has been pictured several times leaving

Russell's north London pad in the wake of the scandal. On a talent website, Sydney writes: "I'm a professional model/actress/dancer and singer from Birmingham originally, now based in north London."

Pals say she is naturally cautious over his lothario reputation, and the friend added: "She's pretty keen, but she's a smart girl and is aware of his past."

Earlier this year, Russell told us he was considering marrying his then-girlfriend Teresa Palmer, only to break up with her in September. Good luck Syd!

"There (sic) poor lifes (sic) have been left a mess" - thus spake Laura from Newcastle.
Christ above, Ross was getting £6 million a year from the BBC - and Brand was certainly not being paid a pittance. Hardly a "poor life" for either of them.

I love both him and Jonathan ross...and when theres more important things going on in the world...i.e war...why dont people start worrying about the bigger things and give this two a break!! They were hired for being funny characters and if people dont like them then dont listen too/watch them its pretty simple, an as for the 30,000 people who complained, get a life, half of them probley didnt even hear it on the radio and have went out of there way to look for it to listen one word...sado's!! There poor lifes have been left a mess because of do gooders who have nothing better to do!!!

Fit she may be, but would probably drop her knickers for Jonathan Woss just as quickly. Clinically desperate, the pair of them.

Tracy, yes it does but it also means a bill or beak. So the headline is a double entendre - it's meant to be funny.
