Robert Kilroy-Silk: sure to face the bush-tucker challenges

Brian Paddick is reportedly set to star in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

The ex-deputy assistant commissioner of the Met, who failed in his attempt to become Liberal Democrat mayor of London this year, would be one of 10 contestants in the ITV reality show.

Others said to be taking part in the programme, which launches on Sunday, include nine-times Wimbledon winner Martina Navratilova, 52, former MP and daytime television host Robert Kilroy-Silk, 66, ex-presenter of The Word Dani Behr, 37, and That's Life! host Esther Rantzen, 66.

David Van Day, one half of Eighties pop duo Dollar, is also rumoured to be out in Australia as a stand-by guest who will be brought in halfway through the two-week series.

Yesterday it was reported that former punk rocker Jimmy Pursey pulled out of the show because he thought the producers were only sending him in to be controversial.

The ex-Sham 69 singer is said to have dropped out days before he was set to fly out to the Australian jungle camp because he wasn't “out to cause anarchy, just good, tongue-in-cheek fun”.

Nooooo, why would Paddick do such a desperate thing?

To think I voted for him as Major.....
