X Factor revolt as fans query results

Ofcom was today considering investigating the voting figures that saw X Factor contestant Laura White booted off the show.

ITV bosses are under pressure to publish the exact figures of Saturday's show after an online petition with 50,000 signatures calling for White to be reinstated demanded the information be made available.

Sing-off: Laura White and Ruth Lorenzo

One of the petition's organisers, Dan Kirby, said: “People just want to know what happens when they vote and we have a right to know the figures. How do we know Laura was even in the bottom two? How many votes did she get? We don't know.

“They need to come clean. The voters pay the bosses' wages — they have a right to know.”
A spokesman for Ofcom said: “We have received complaints about the X Factor programme broadcast on Saturday 8 November. These complaints are being assessed against our Broadcasting Code.”

White, 21, was kicked off the show after performing a sing-off with Ruth Lorenzo on Saturday.

But there have also been allegations, denied by an X Factor spokeswoman, of a glitch in the phone system which some viewers say stopped them casting their votes to save her.
