X Factor hopeful Diana Vickers smiled with relief as she headed back to the contestants' house after getting through the latest show. The 17-year-old, who had missed a week because of laryngitis, gave a mediocre performance on Saturday, according to the judges, but still won over the public.

Factored in: Diana Vickers outside the X Factor house

She held her head in her hands in despair after singing Coldplay's Yellow and Dannii Minogue said: “I didn't love that song for you.” Simon Cowell told her: “I don't think you are well enough. That vocal was off in parts and you knew it, I can see it in your face.” But he said he had “missed her” the week before.

Early X-it: Daniel Evans

Daniel Evans was the sixth finalist to be booted out of the ITV contest.

I can't look at her now without thinking of Keith Lemon's impression of her! Her voice sounded terrible on Saturday ... an out of tune Delores from the Cranberries.

- Kitcat, London

I agree she cannot sing. She sounds like a female Mr Bean. She or Rachel should have gone last week.

I would like JLS to win, it is a shame that Loui is their mentor.

- E Sullivan, London

Her performance was awful, I think she is very limited vocally. She doesn't deserve to win.

- Sal, Ealing, London

Diana will walk this contest - she's the only one that is unique. The rest are just clones of cheesy singers. Diana's won X-Factor by a mile. YES!

- Harry, london

She sounds just like and as annoying as the singer of the Cranberries (can't even remember that one's name)...Alexandra to win!!!

- Sonia O., London, UK

Totally agree, her voice is terrible. She should be voted out. Alexandra or JLS to win.

- J Caddle, London

No ..... it's definitely not just you, Scott, I think she sounds awful with or without a sore throat!

- Tracey, London

Kick out Diana folks! Is it me or does her voice annoy anyone else? I find it dreadful!
