X Factor shock at singer’s gun gesture
Last updated at 12:16pm on 20.11.08X Factor viewers were shocked by contestant Rachel Hylton who made a gangsta-style gun gesture on the show.

Fired? Rachel caused a stir by making a gun gesture
She shaped her hand like a pistol after winning her sing-off against rival Daniel Evans on Saturday night.
Viewers complained, saying it is a sign that glamorises gun crime, but an X Factor spokeswoman said Rachel, 26, who has a background of drugs and crime, meant no offence. The show's spokeswoman said: “Rachel in no way meant any offence by her hand gesture on Saturday night's show.”

"a "ghetto" form of affectation"? and in reality guns kill. To glamorise that is not only naive but deeply immature.
It'll cost her any chance of a win. Let that be a lesson to ya!

Honestly,...there are more presssing things for people to be in uproar over than a girl gesticulating a "ghetto" form of affectation on a reality television show...whatever next?!!...

she is awful; far too cocky with her mediocre talent. She isn't frriendly or even comes across as a nice person, people won't vote for her to win. She is known still as being agressive in her personal life, why they keep saving her from eviction is beyond me. Have to realise, the public won't buy her records....

Footballer crosses his arms there's uproar... fined etc.
Not yet Wannabe celebrity makes a gun gesture on national TV, it's " in no way meant any offence " I think the shows spokesperson and Rachel should be booted.

Regardless of her background and family life, I do not rate this girl.
She does not come across as approachable, friendly, humble , able to take guidance or more importantly in winning a singing contest (of sorts) has a good voice.
She is very aggressive in her stance and I doubt she would go far outwith this competition.
(Hope she doesn't come and shoot me now????)
