Tana Ramsay put on a brave face today following allegations that TV chef husband Gordon has been having a seven-year affair.

Tana, 33, smiled as she left the family home in Wandsworth to take their children to school at around 8am. Asked how she was feeling, the mother of four replied: “I'm good, thanks for asking.”

Tana, who has been married to the Michelin-starred chef for 12 years, refused to comment on his alleged infidelity with Sarah Symonds.

It was alleged Ms Symonds had approached the publicist Max Clifford earlier this year as she wanted to launch a TV career.

The revelation comes as it was suggested that Ramsay's business empire could suffer over the allegations of an affair.

Ramsay, 42, is refusing to either confirm or deny a relationship with 38-year-old Symonds, author of a handbook for mistresses and a former lover of Jeffrey Archer.

The claim that Ms Symonds approached Clifford have prompted suggestions the chef has been
“set up”. The News Of The World claimed she and Ramsay had sex on Thursday in the Marriott hotel off Grosvenor Square, adjoining the chef's Maze restaurant.

Today Richard Harden, co-publisher of the Harden's restaurant guide, said the claim could
dent the chef's reputation — built on his image as a devoted family man.

A source close to Ramsay said today that he was “fuming” over the newspaper report but was going to “ride it through”. The source added: “It doesn't take a bright spark to see why she [Symonds] is doing this. We are going to have to wait and see how the next few days pan out.”

Ramsay, who posed for pictures with his wife yesterday, has built a multi-million-pound business empire, with restaurants in London, Europe, and the US as well as in the Middle East and Japan.

He also makes huge sums from television and book deals and his annual income is thought to be around £15 million. Tana's father Chris Hutcheson is Ramsay's business partner with a 31 per cent stake in Gordon Ramsay Holdings.

Commenting on Ms Symonds, Clifford said today: “She's intelligent and she's got it all worked out — she realised this was her opportunity to launch herself like other people that have launched themselves out of scandals.”
