Helping to switch on someone's Christmas lights is a typical task of television talent show stars. It's no different if you are the spoof winner of a fake show.

All you need is light: Stella McCartney with her father Sir Paul and Peter Kay as transsexual singer Geraldine at the launch of Christmas at her Mayfair store

So “Irish sex-change singer Geraldine” — - otherwise known as comedian Peter Kay — offered a little help to his friend Sir Paul McCartney in throwing the switch at the Mayfair boutique of the former Beatle's designer daughter Stella. The pair burst into song and cracked jokes after turning on the lights.

The appearance of Geraldine was a return favour after Sir Paul — who had earlier yesterday criticised television reality shows — guested on Kay's spoof show, Britain's Got The Pop Factor last month on Channel 4. Sir Paul gave advice to Geraldine, who, viewers were told, had once been a male piano player on a ferry. Earlier, speaking at the launch of his new album, Electric Arguments, Sir Paul said: “I can't turn on the TV without somebody being judged by four people, whether it is on ice, on stage, or in the jungle. It's compulsive viewing, but so is watching a traffic accident.”

Leading lights: at the big switch-on party were Jamie Hince of the Kills and girlfriend Kate Moss as well as singer Lulu

Sir Paul was at Stella's shop with his American girlfriend, Nancy Shevell. Other guests were Lulu and Kate Moss, with her boyfriend Jamie Hince.

Kate and Jamie were at the switching on of the Christmas lights at the Stella McCartney store in Mayfair. At 9.30pm, the gang made their way to Shoreditch House, where Sam Sparrow was performing at the Pepsi Maxcast evening with Sound Tribe Live.

Kate, 34, was pretty well refreshed after several glasses of red wine and got into a bizarre argument with two gents as she waited for a lift home.

Stellar guest list: Stella McCartney with model Kate Moss last night

Our spy said: “She turned to a man who had just walked in and drunkenly said, You just grabbed my bum, you weirdo'.

“The guy, who had not been within reaching distance of Kate, looked shocked and didn't know what to say. At that point a second guy tried to calm things but Kate flew into a rage and shouted, I'm going to get you done for harassment'.”

Kate then weirdly told one of them: “I'm going to get you felt up later tonight.” When you're an international model, you can clearly call on “people” to feel others up at will.

Cheers: Stella enjoys bubbly from the bottle

Stella walked past the fracas — but chose to ignore it and walked off, leaving Kate to argue. Maybe she had seen the fur after all.

It was all downhill for Kate — when her phone ran out of batteries, the multi-millionairess offered several people 50p to let her use their phone.
Jamie then chipped in: “You can use mine for 49 pence.” Funny and generous? What a catch!

Oh Brian Darlink!!

That IS the fashion, and I think they call it individuality.

Sorry to see Stella (can't design for toffee) McCartney has lost an arm!! Caught it in the sewing machine perhaps?????

Someone should tell Jamie Hince that his clothes are too tight. I thought London was supposed to be up with fashion. Everyone looks caught in a time warp of around 10 years ago.
