Rock star Bryan Adams has called in police after being stalked by a mother and her son, it emerged today.

The 49-year-old, who lives in Chelsea, claims he has been hounded by the obsessed fans for a number of weeks.

Shadowed: Bryan Adams

The pair, understood to be from Romania, first saw the Canadian singer in a restaurant and approached him for an autograph.

They later turned up at his west London home and have allegedly been shadowing him ever since. It is thought they may be suffering from psychiatric problems.

Adams, who is famous for the hit song Everything I Do (I Do It For You), which spent 16 weeks at number one from July 1991, is said to be "very concerned" by what is being seen as harassment.

A source said: "They have become obsessed with Bryan, turning up at his house and following him everywhere.

"It started when they saw him in a restaurant. Bryan likes to keep a low profile and is hardly the most recognisable rock star.

"He was happy to sign an autograph but this woman and her son have become obsessed with him. He doesn't want them to get in any serious trouble but he really wants to be left alone by them."

Officers have given the singer safety advice and have installed a panic alarm in his home.

A Met spokesman said: "We are investigating allegations of harassment by a man in his late forties.

"There have been no arrests and inquiries continue."
