Clooney's A-listers raise £10m in a night

George Clooney could certainly show our celebs a thing or two about throwing a bash. Not only did he amass a stellar group of A-listers for his party in Mayfair last night, but he only went and raised £10 million for charity in the process. Boy, his halo must be feeling tight this morning.

Gracious host: George Clooney arriving at the party

The Hollywood star joined forces with Roger Jenkins, a senior executive at Barclays, for an event at which the 100 or so guests were charged as much as £10,000 a ticket.

Guests inevitably included Clooney's best friend Matt Damon, as well as Scarlett Johansson, Cindy Crawford, Sarah Ferguson, Guy Ritchie, Bono and The Edge (just to name a few).

Clooney and Jenkins may seem at first glance an odd couple. But the link is Roger's wife Dijana, a glamorous 36-year-old who is a brilliant networker.

Our sources say Mrs Jenkins helped to organise last night's event, held at their £ 16 million home, bringing together the A-list guests for a dinner and party, which went on until 4am.

The evening raised money for the victims of Darfur, and George gave an impassioned speech about their plight.

The guests might well have been moved - but it didn't stop them from necking the alcohol.

As Kid Rock supplied the music, security guards had to be dispatched to fetch extra supplies of champagne after party-goers got through hundreds of bottles within two hours.

Model Eva Herzigova arrived in £3 million worth of loaned Chopard jewellery. However, she had to face the indignity of handing it all back over to a representative from the company at the gates as she left to go home.

Eva Mendes and Scarlett Johansson had earlier been to a special party to promote their new movie The Spirit in Holborn.

The bash was held at the Old Sorting Office but - despite the lure of Bacardi mojitos - Eva and Scarlett left organisers red-faced by bunking of f after barely an hour.

When asked where they were going, Scarlett, said: "If I stay any later I will turn into a pumpkin."

Now we know they had a far better invite...

George Clooney looks about a million years old. I imagine these egomaniacs could have raised a billion if they'd given a tithe of their net worth each.

What can you say to this, those celebs. are not experiencing any form of self denial but they are the only a glimmer of hope for Darfur on the horizon so well done.

Clooney looks like Hitler in the photo. Eva Herzigova is very pretty.

This'll be the first time I'm jealous of Fergie ... how did she wangle a ticket?
