Wayne and Coleen Rooney's world of riches exposed

Updated 12:38pm on 8 Dec 2008

The full earning power of Wayne and Coleen Rooney has been revealed as the couple fight a bitter legal battle. The 23-year-old footballer and his 22-year-old wife, who are believed to be worth £35m, are embroiled in the wrangle with sports agency Proactive over alleged unpaid bills.

Wealth: Coleen is in wrangle with agency

And the couple's amazing wealth has been made public as court documents reveal the Manchester United striker receives £90,000 a week salary, and earns £760,000 every six months for the right for the club to use his image. He also nets £1m from Nike sponsorship and £118,689.57 twice a year from computer games firm EA on top of the £3.5m he earned from his 12-year book deal.

Coleen does equally well, raking in huge salaries for TV appearances and her columns in magazines, including £41,667 for writing for OK!. She also receives £13,000 per episode for the 10-part TV show Coleen's Real Women and has an eight-book contract worth £283,334 Proactive served a writ on the couple claiming they owe two months' commission and that Wayne owes £19,000 for using a credit card during his Ibiza stag party in June.

Don't have a problem with Wayne Rooney as he has actually worked at his football to become a very good player but Coleen has just got "lucky" on the back of his talent - although there is one downside - she is married to him!!!

It beggars belief that a pair of uneducated chavs like them can earn so much for doing so little!

It seems obscene that these people earn so much money to spend recklessly, when we have over-worked Doctors, Nurses, Police and Military to name but a few, who really make a difference to society earning a small fraction of what these earn in a month! There is something really sick about the society we all opt to live in these days.

Yes, but can she make decent gravy?

Be fair, it can't be easy being that moronic and still be able to make that much money. It also proves the people who buy into their 'brands' are stupid and shouldn't be allowed to go out alone (most Man U supporters it might seem).
It would be interesting to compare how much these two idiots get paid as opposed to a nurse or soldier, who actually help people.

Isn't anyone shocked by the amount of money these people make? Isn't it time to admit footballers and their silly wifes are overpaid? How comes people with degrees and education and hard working jobs don't make a third of what these brainless people earn? Says a lot about the crazy world we live in.....Sad really.

They might have all this money but there are things that they would never buy. Taste and other people's respect!

So tacky though. It proves the point, you cannot buy taste.

His "image" is worth more than his "talent"!!!! Wow, I bet he enjoys job satisfaction!

"£118,689.57 twice a year from computer games firm EA"
Are they developing a horrific mutant shoot 'em up then?
