Updated 13:39pm on 9 Dec 2008

X Factor star Diana Vickers is single after splitting from her boyfriend of eight months.

Her relationship with student Chris Jones, 18, was said to have hit the skids after she got close to fellow contestant Eoghan Quigg.

Just after the news of their split broke, Eoghan, 16, told of his plans to reunite with Diana, 17, after the series finishes.

Meanwhile, Diana and Ruth Lorenzo were easing their way back into "normal" life with a free shopping trip to Lipsy in the West End.

Things are OK: Ruth Lorenzo at the OK party

The pair both look likely to sign record deals: Take That's Gary Barlow said he'd sign Diana if Simon Cowell didn't snap her up, and yesterday Ruth said: "Lots of people want to give me contracts, I'm so excited." After their VIP shopping spree, Ruth headed to the OK! Magazine Christmas party at the Living Room in Mayfair. The party was Z-list heaven, with the illustrious guest list including Bianca Gascoigne, some Big Brother people and Abi Titmuss.

George Clooney and Tom Cruise then turned up - no, we're only kidding! It really was the worst party in town.

i think it is up to her what happens within her love life..
if she wants to be with eoghan she can, but i honestly believe she has been faithful to her boyfriend and her and eoghan are just friends.. and what is the problem with that? they were both very young in the competition and it was probably nice for them to have someone they can relate to there. x
