Peaches takes on Kate and Topshop

A new war could be breaking out on the high street — but for once it's nothing to do with the credit crunch. Peaches Geldof has been given her own high street fashion range to rival that of Kate Moss at Topshop.

And her new bosses, glam label PPQ, have already stoked things up by saying her new range “won't be as cheap” as Kate's.

Model: Peaches Geldof in PPQ on the catwalk

Bob Geldof's daughter, 19, designed some high-end pieces for PPQ, which were launched last month, and the big-wigs were so impressed they want to expand her input.

The label's items start at several hundred pounds, but they now want Peaches to help them with a high street range at more affordable prices. Label owner Percy Parker told us: “We had a meeting to discuss expanding the range. We're going to make it a lot more accessible, in different shops around the country and on the Internet. It's going to be much more accessible, but not as cheap as Topshop.” Meow!

Kate's range has been massively successful, and we're sure she won't be too riled by her latest young pretender.

Percy continued: “Peaches gets a lot of bad press but that's just because if she doesn't think someone is cool, she won't make the effort or give them any time.”

An insider confirmed that the range is due out in March, but the details are yet to be finalised. As a DJ, band member, wife, model, columnist and presenter, let's hope Peaches has time to squeeze designing in as well.

I can't say I approve of either ... but at least Kate Moss' career has some foundation on her own ability - rather than who one's parents were. Does Peaches have ANY discernable talent?

ha ha ha..... don't make me laugh! I'm not a fan of Kate Moss but know that she's worked hard to get where she is today and won't be tipped off her throne by the spoilt brat tantrum throwing talentless daughter of St Bob Boring Geldorf. Is it April 1st already???

- Sharon, London

To make her work harder, don't buy her clothing range! She is lazy and ugly - full stop!

- Wills, Surrey

Who cares what the dysfunctional family.

- Kerry, Purley

Very well said John, couldn't have put it better myself! We'd all be millionaires had we been born with a silver spoon in our mouth!

- Jo Whittington, Gold Coast Australia (now!)

Its amazing that she still looks like an angry teenager, even when on the catwalk. No doubt she followed in the standard model steps of bingeing in drugs and over dosing again after the show.

- Nick, London

What an utter idiot and waste of space!

- Ali Sichilongo, London

What you really mean is, that some organisation is going to use her name to sell their clothing range, just as they did with Kate. Do not try to make us think for one second that these 'celebrities' have a clue how to run a business, or promote a clothing range. As Paris Hilton's grandfather said, when she was born, she was a brand name. You can be as thick as a plank, but if you are a brand name, you can have anything you want, it is like winning the lottery.
