David Tennant signs autographs for delighted fans last night after making a "mesmerising" return to his role as Hamlet at London's Novello Theatre.

The Doctor Who star, 37, was given two standing ovations for only his second full performance in the gruelling role, after earlier being forced to cry off with a back injury. One theatregoer said: "It was outstanding. You couldn't take your eyes off him."
