Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt carried off the glamour award - but it was the Brits who won the prizes as Danny Boyle's movie Slumdog Millionaire was voted best film at the Critics' Choice awards. Boyle was also best director at the ceremony in California last night, while his star, Londoner Dev Patel, 18, was best young actor. The film also won best screenplay for Simon Beaufoy and best composer for AR Rahman.

Disappointed: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt arriving at the awards

Boyle told the audience, which included singer Katy Perry: "It's amazing to see how generous you have been." There was disappointment for both Jolie and Pitt.

Hot dogs: Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto, Simon Beaufoy, Christian Colson, Danny Boyle and AR Rahman

The Changeling star lost best actress to joint winners Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. Pitt's movie The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button had led the field with eight nominations but left with nothing.
